This June I was delighted to dedicate a weekend to two of my great passions – rocks and poetry, co-leading a Geopoetry weekend with Professor Pat Corbett, geologist and poet. I am excited to say that plans are afoot for another event next year. The event was delivered at Burngate Centre in partnership with the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics. It was quite an incredible weekend – heat, rocks, so. many new poems and writings and sharing ideas together in the stunning surroundings of the ancient Purbeck landscape.
We were very lucky to receive a specialist talk from the late and wonderful quarryowner/ author and local stone expert, Trev Haysom, on the subject of quarryman-poet Geoff Hooper, together with a long guided walk with Pat (was it really only 4 miles?)
