with Dorset Museum and People First Dorset 2022

People First Dorset and Dorset Museum partnered on this co-creative community project co-funded by Wessex Water and Dorset Community Foundation, commissioning me to offer a series of workshops connecting creative making with climate change learning and connecting this to the museum collection. The group explored and learned about climate change and environmental themes through creative conversation and making, all inspired by selected objects in the museum. Each session took place in a different gallery of the museum focusing on artefacts such as The Dorset Ooser and Elisabeth Frink’s Green Man. Our artwork included story staffs, animal masks, talismans, textile bunting, mosaic collages and up cycling printed T-shirts, together with a film of the project created by Pageant productions.

This was a joyful project and the success and outcome of a huge exhibition were testimony to the strong creative partnership and commitment of the team together, I learned a lot about communicating climate change in a creative art project using simple materials and was so well supported during the project. Thank you Hannah and Alex at Dorset Museum and Laura, Laura for making it happen and thank you for your energy, company and commitment to our friends and participants at People First Dorset!
