I

Into deep stone paths/Purbeck/Geopoetics 2024

my research into Portland/Purbeck stone, quarries and stone industry continues

I’ve been working with Burngate Purbeck Stone Centre for over four years’ to deliver Geopoetics retreats and workshops (Geopoetics is the meeting place of earth history/geology and poetry) and this year planting seeds to consoslidate ongoing Dorset quarries/ stone industry and landscapes for research next year and new work.

We delivered workshops for Purbeck Arts Week with geologist, Pat and John Hegley and in September John and I also delievered workshops at The Geological Society, Burlington House for the Earth Canvas conference – with participants from earth sciences/ poetry/arts.

Upcoming project to be announced very soon!

Meanwhile here is the shorter reel of Portland quarrymen talking to me with slideshow made by sound artist,Tom Hughes, for my Heart of Stone celebration last year at Royal Manor Theatre to say thank you to Trevor McColm/ Rab Stone/ Peter and Paul Knight for their trust in me over the years and for generously sharing their stories far and wide to hundreds of audiences in talks/ events/ public and private conversations. We have had lots of fun, and so much more to come.
